Well as you may have guessed we've experienced the "unofficial" start of summer this week & I couldn't be happier! Welcome to my happy place!
MEMORIAL DAY
Not only is this day a wonderful reminder to give credit to all who have given service to our country & our freedom but it's also a great way to kick off summer. My brother-in-law had the pool open & heated & for the first time in as long as I can remember the weather was ah-ma-zinggggg. And we were able to celebrate my sister & nephew's birthdays as a family which is yet another reason to be festive over the holiday weekend!
SUMMER SCHEDULE
Memorial Day weekend also marks my transition into a four day summer work schedule. I work like an actual maniac all year long so that I can do this & as far as I'm concerned it's very well deserved... if I must say so myself. And before you yell at me about how lucky I am to do this all summer just remember that I work Saturdays all year round... and most people I know wouldn't want to deal with that. So starting this week I'll be at Jolie Wednesday through Saturday & after that good luck finding me... unless you follow me on Instastories & then it wouldn't be too hard!
"THE BOOK OF MORMON"
This week I got to see the fifth show in my Broadway series... damn these shows are flying by too fast! If you haven't seen this show you really must... OK or maybe not if you're sensitive... because they really go there & it's not for the faint of heart or those who are easily offended. Lucky for me I find this show perfect!
"MAID"
I think I told you this month we had two book club selections... I literally flew through "Then She Was Gone"... like couldn't put it down. And now I'm onto "Maid: Hard Work, Low Pay and a Mother's Will to Survive" by Stephanie Land. This is a memoir from the perspective of the working poor from someone who lived it & her experiences cleaning the more fortunate's homes. I'm not super far into it yet but I personally think it's great, super eye opening & know some people who could benefit from reading it.
NOTHING BUNDT CAKES
We got one of these cakes for the holiday weekend & lemme just say it didn't make it through the night. We got the confetti cake just because it looked super birthday-y & it was so good! The icing is what really pushed it over the edge for me... you gotta try one of these things!
So there you have it... there's my #fridayfive. What were you really into this week?
Cheers - Hal
