WHY YOU SHOULD BE CLEANING YOUR FLATIRON

May 28, 2019

I've gone over all the rules of flat ironing throughout the years.

Start out on a lower heat, buy a quality product, always use a thermal protectant just to name a few.

A client asked what kind of flat iron she should buy to replace the one she had that was dirty... and in that moment I realized I hadn't shared one important rule that could change anything.

CLEAN YOUR FLATIRON!

If you're a product junkie like myself & most of my clients & readers than you most likely have product buildup on your straightener.

Think about it... just like most things in life when they're serviced, cleaned & taken care of they work better.  So same as your hot tools... when they're clean you're going to get such a better result for your hair.

So basically heat it up at a low setting & once it's warmed up unplug it... DOT NOT FORGET THIS STEP!  Or maybe I'll have one less reader on the blog.

Gently scrub the flatiron plates with a rag or cotton swabs dipped in rubbing alcohol.  Don't get too crazy because you don't want to damage the plates either.  You want them clean... not broken.

Repeat this as necessary or once a month if you're a straightener addict.

Cheers - Hal
