I'm always looking for cute little gift sets that have meaning... to gift large groups of people... that don't cost a fortune. I know - that's a lot of requirements to meet. And every once in a while someone introduces me to a new tradition that I just have to pass along.
If you don't know about the Bayberry Tradition it's time you get familiar. A bayberry candle timed to burn down after midnight on Christmas Eve or New Year's Eve will bring health to the home & wealth to the pocket for the New Year - or here's to hoping... at the very least it makes a cute gift & an even cuter tradition.
I started out with this card explaining the tradition.
I purchased black matchbooks from Etsy to personalize - hopefully your handwriting is better then mine!
I got these mercury glass votives for really cheap at a bridal expo & purchased my bayberry candles from Yankee candle. I really suggest a votive because a jar candle or even a taper candle can burn on & on forever & it may be hard to time it so it doesn't burn down before midnight - ruining the tradition - or you're not up all night waiting for it to burn down - missing out on beauty sleep so you don't look your best on the big day!
Put the matches, votive & candles in a cellophane bag with some pretty ribbon.
Hand stamp a gift bag.
And voila you have a pretty gift with a special meaning too!
"A bayberry candle burned to the socket brings health to the home & wealth to the pocket"
I have to say the people I gifted these to thought they were so cute & I can't wait to use mine New Year's Eve.
So what do you guys think... cute or a no go?
Cheers - Hal
