I was lucky enough to be asked to join a book club with a group of fabulous women & I really enjoy it!
For the month of December we read "The Great Alone" by Kristin Hannah. I LOVED this book... I think it was actually my favorite book of 2018 if I had to choose just one.
So the good news was I loved the book we would be discussing at my house... the bad news is I HATE the vibe my house can give off when it's freshly undecorated from the holidays. It tends to feel so empty & sterile. And that was not the first impression I wanted to give my book club!
So I decided to leave up what I could that would lend itself to the wintery theme of the book... it is set in Alaska after all so meeting in January to discuss this book was very fitting.
And of course I got all extra with my sweets & treats!
"Alaska Roll'
And each person got to take home polar bear cake pops... each one with a quote from the book. Could these be any cuter?
And what book club isn't complete without some wine?
And of course we managed to squeeze in some actual book discussion too. If you're looking for something to read in 2019... especially this winter... we all absolutely loved "The Great Alone."
So there you have it... this was our December book club. For January we're reading "Where the Crawdads Sing" which I've heard such wonderful things about & cant wait to get into it!
What are you reading this winter?
Cheers - Hal
