There are sooooo many shampoos on the market it's CRAZY! Today we're going to break it down & give you a place to start.

First - check your shampoo label now! You should be using a SULFATE FREE SHAMPOO. What are sulfates? Basically they're detergents that turn shampoo into a thick lather. I explain it as too much filler in a crab cake. We don't want all that filler - we just want the good stuff! Sulfate free shampoos are color safe & a must after smoothing treatments like the Brazilian Blowout & Keratin Treatment. They also help with allergies, eczema & scalp irritation. Psychologically it takes some getting used to. The less sulfates in the shampoo the less suds and lather - so people think their hair isn't getting clean - IT IS! Just get used to it!

Second - what condition is your scalp in? Really when you shampoo you're treating & cleansing your scalp as well as your hair. I know what you're thinking - but my ends need moisture or volume etc. etc. etc. Help your scalp first - you can solve these other issues with conditioner or styling products - but that's another topic for another BACK TO BASICS.

-Oily Scalp - AVOID words like hydrating, moisturizing, & nourishing

LOOK FOR words like volumizing, strengthening & balancing

Moroccan Oil Clarifying Shampoo - my favorite shampoo for an oily scalp. This shampoo will help remove excess oil & gunk & leaves the hair feeling normal & healthy - not dry

- Dry Scalp - AVOID words like strengthening, fortifying, & volumizing

LOOK FOR words like moisurizing & hydrating

Kerastase Bain Vital Dermo - Calm - my favorite shampoo to help prevent dryness, redness, & porblematic scalp without weighing it down

Third - if your scalp's not your issue then lets move onto your actual hair. Here are some of my day to day favorites I use on all my clients.

LONG - Kerastase Cristalliste Bain Cristal - leaves lengthy hair looking smooth without weighing it down.
